Product support

From link to file.

Start in the public website. When a source blocks cloud servers or requires browser access, continue with the local companion on your computer.

Website + local companionOne-time Pro: ¥18.90 CNY

The quickest path

  1. Paste a public media link and select Inspect link.
  2. Choose an available quality and start the download.
  3. If the cloud service cannot reach the source, install and run the local companion, then retry from the same browser.

1. Download workflow

  1. Open the FrameFetch app and paste one public video URL. Playlist downloads and bulk scraping are not supported.
  2. Select Inspect link. FrameFetch asks the source for the title, thumbnail and formats it currently exposes.
  3. Choose the required resolution. A requested resolution is available only when the source provides a compatible video and audio format.
  4. Select download. A cloud job returns a temporary browser link; a companion job saves the file to the folder selected on your computer.

Use authorised media only.

A public link is not automatically a licence to download or reuse the media. See the Acceptable Use Policy.

2. Why the local companion exists

Some source sites reject requests from data-centre IP addresses, ask for account verification, or expose formats only to a normal desktop browser. The companion runs yt-dlp on your own computer and saves the result locally.

Private local connection

The helper listens on 127.0.0.1:18765, uses a per-launch token and accepts requests only from trusted FrameFetch origins.

Local media delivery

The downloaded media is written to your selected local folder. FrameFetch does not upload that local media file to its cloud storage.

Limited cloud exchange

The website still sends the source URL, requested quality and a short-lived entitlement ticket needed to apply account limits.

Optional browser cookies

Cookie access is off by default. Enable it only for an account you control and where the source permits downloading.

3. Allowances and Lifetime Pro

AccessAllowanceQuality
Guest1 download per 24 hoursUp to the free quality shown in the app
Free member3 downloads in totalUp to the free quality shown in the app
Lifetime Pro100 downloads per 24 hours4K and 8K when the source provides them

Lifetime Pro is a one-time ¥18.90 CNY purchase for the operating life of the FrameFetch service. It is not a subscription. Payment does not override source availability, rights restrictions or the daily fair-use allowance.

4. Troubleshooting

The source asks to verify the server IP

This commonly means the source has blocked or challenged the cloud server. Install and start the local companion, refresh FrameFetch and inspect the link again. Changing to another public video may confirm whether the issue is source-specific.

The website says “Failed to fetch”

Confirm the companion is running and that security software is not blocking its local port 18765. Keep the website and helper open, reload the page, then retry. If the helper still cannot be detected, reinstall the latest package.

The requested resolution is unavailable

Inspect the URL again and select one of the returned qualities. 4K or 8K requires Pro and must also be published by the source. A higher number in the selector cannot create resolution that is absent from the source.

Payment succeeded but Pro is not visible

Return to FrameFetch using the same account, refresh the page, then sign out and back in once. Keep the Stripe receipt. If access is still unchanged, email support from the account email and include the payment time and Stripe receipt or session reference—never send a card number.

The download is incomplete or has no audio

Retry once with the latest companion and a lower quality. Confirm there is adequate free disk space. Some sources publish separate video and audio streams; the helper needs its bundled media tools to merge them.

5. Common questions

Does FrameFetch support every website?

No. FrameFetch uses yt-dlp and can inspect many public media sources, but source layouts and restrictions change frequently. Support for a source or format is never guaranteed.

Can I download private, paid or DRM-protected media?

FrameFetch is not designed to bypass DRM, paywalls, authentication or technical access controls. Use it only for media you own or are authorised to download.

Where does the companion save files?

It saves to the folder you select on your own computer. Browser security does not let a public website choose arbitrary local folders, which is one reason the helper is separate.

Can I reset a forgotten password?

There is currently no self-service password-reset flow. Email support from the address registered to your account. Never include your password.

Can I download a playlist?

FrameFetch intentionally handles a single media item per request. This reduces accidental bulk downloads and keeps quota accounting predictable.
